Thermoregulation system wireless: EQUICALOR

The current laws concerning energy and environment increasingly demand for the possibility to independently control the temperature in each room of our houses, in order to avoid energy waste.
In those buildings featuring central heating units, where zone subdivision is not possible (vertical tube systems), not only the autonomous management and thermal regulation of each room are required by law, but they are also fundamental to reduce consumptions. The usage of manual valves on radiators does not allow an automatic zone control, thus resulting in an excessive room heat and in poor comfort conditions that cause useless energy waste.
IVAR, always taking care of such problems, in compliance with the currently in-force Italian and European laws, proposes EQUICALOR™, an innovative, patented system that provides the users with the possibility of independent heat management in an easy and effective way.
EQUICALOR™ is a wireless system consisting of different devices, with power supplied by normal or rechargeable batteries. This system consists of one or more zone chrono-thermostats and of one or more actuators, which are directly installed on the radiator valves instead of thermostatic heads. The chrono-thermostat is the base element through which the user can perform the programming of the working timetable on daily and weekly basis, and of the corresponding desired temperatures for Comfort, Energy-saving and Limit cycles.
Each actuator allows to set a different temperature for each single room; in fact, it receives the data from the chronothermostat and determines the opening/closure of the valve, to the aim of adjusting the required room temperature.
EQUICALOR™ features a number of new technical and operational solutions that make extremely innovative what may appear at first as a simple thermal regulation system based on data transceiving:
Independent room thermal control
EQUICALOR™ system guarantees the possibility of independent thermal control for each single room, in compliance with the current standards on energy saving and in conformity with the requirements of Italian Ministerial Decree 19th February 2007 and following amendments (“Disposizioni in materia di detrazioni per le spese di riqualificazione energetica del patrimonio edilizio esistente, ai sensi dell’articolo 1 comma 349, della legge 27 Dicembre 2006, n° 296”). The chrono-thermostat is the central programming element of the system and, as demanded by previously mentioned regulations, it allows the adjustment of room temperature “at least on two levels within 24 hours”.
The actuator, which is mounted on the valve of the heating element, receives the program data by the chrono-thermostat and operates to set temperatures in the different time cycles. The correct adjustment of the room temperature in each room is obtained thanks to the availability of both the temperature detected by the chrono-thermostat, and the temperature near the radiator or the room temperature detected by the actuator itself.

With reference to the time cycle program transmitted by the chrono-thermostat, it is possible to raise or lower by about 3 °C the temperature desired for the single room by operating directly on the actuator, thanks to dedicated button and LED indicators. In certain rooms, such as the bathroom, one may need, and he can adjust, a higher temperature with respect to the temperature set for the other rooms.

 
Self-adaptive adjustment
The actuators in EQUICALOR™ system work with a very sophisticated adjustment algorithm (patent pending) that automatically compensates the temperature detected near the radiator, so to provide an effective regulation of the room temperature even when the temperature of the radiator itself is changed.
 
Multi-zone system
The chrono-thermostat offers the possibility to program the daily and weekly timetable in a differentiated way for up to 8 distinct zones. The actuators present in the rooms can be associated to each single zone.
Low energy consumption actuator
The actuators installed on the heating elements are battery-operated; they feature a (patented) mechanical drive system with low friction and, consequently, with low energy consumption, ensuring a long operation life (about 3 years).
 
Easy installation
Thanks to the use of a wireless system and of battery-operated devices (batteries are rechargeable and can be easily replaced by the user), EQUICALOR™ allows easy and quick installation and operation. The chrono-thermostat can be wall-mounted by two wall plugs, or housed in a semi-recessed box (standard 503E type). The actuators, directly installed on the radiator needle valves, can be secured by threaded locking rings.
 
Easy programming
The chrono-thermostat is extremely easy to program and, thanks to the availability of a graphic display with menu guided interface, its use is intuitive and easy to understand even for those who are not familiar with electronic devices. Besides, a button on the actuator allows to raise or lower the room temperature for each single room.
